Bring your family into God's family

Mr. James Braun

Mr. Braun was born into a family that cares a lot about Christian education. His father (a WELS pastor/professor) and his mother (a WELS teacher) had him baptized and brought up “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4). This included providing a Lutheran education in grade school (K-7 and 8th in a one-room school), high school (Martin Luther Preparatory School), and college (Doctor Martin Luther College).

Mr. Braun’s first call was to teach grades 5-8 at Faith Lutheran in Anchorage, Alaska, from 1988 to 1997. After that, the Holy Spirit led him to accept the call the Zion in South Milwaukee, where he taught different combinations of grades 4, 5, and 6 for twenty-four years, in addition to acting as the technology director. In 2019, he accepted the call to serve as principal at Zion. In 2020, he began to teach grades 7 and 8. In 2024, he returned to his focus on grades 5-6 and technology.

Two of Mr. Braun’s favorite Scripture passages are John 16:33 ([Jesus replied,] “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”) and 2 Corinthians 9:15 (Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!).
