Zion's Purpose:
Our Mission
As God's people and a community of Christians, our purpose is to glorify Him in the world. We glorify God best when we Communicate Christ Clearly.
To the best of our gifts, we communicate everything God has revealed in the Scriptures so that the world would know Him better. Central in the message is what Christ has done and is doing for us. Through the Spirit we represent His message clearly and accurately to all people, meeting them where they are with the clear truth revealed in God's Word (the Scripture).
Therefore, through God's gifts and by His grace, our purpose in Communicating Christ Clearly is that many come to know Him as the Savior of the world.
Where This Leads Us:
Our Vision
Advance spiritual growth.
We will seek to create a culture of spiritual growth by providing ministries to get to know His Word intimately and study it regularly. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17).
In action you will see:
- A wide variety of Bible studies directed at our spiritual needs, taught by lay-leaders.
- Bible study, with a goal of over 25% congregational participation.
- People equipped to study the Scriptures at home and with their families.
- Excellence in worship designed to glorify God.
Produce a culture of outreach.
Christ's sacrifice for us provides the example and motivation to pick up our cross and invest in lost souls, at the expense of our personal comfort and cost. We find great value in reaching the lost -- irrespective of culture, race, or community.
In action you will see:
- Members regularly attending outreach training.
- Intentional evangelism programs in connection with our school and daycare, directed at our community.
- Our gifts allocated toward outreach efforts, including time and money.
- A prospect list of over 100 people that receive regular communication by well-equipped teams.
- Annual programs that go out into the community, inviting them to our ministries.
Create a culture of genuine Christian love.
Our members will be mindful of -- and respond to -- the grace of God they have each experienced. They will be inspired to mimic Christ's selfless love as they serve one another.
In action you will see:
- Members seeking out visitors and loosely-connected members before and after worship.
- Regularly planned fellowship events.
- Ministries designed to help those in need.
Congregational ownership and participation in Zion's ministry.
Our members will feel like and be active partners in the ministry of Zion.
In action you will see:
- Members comfortably sharing ideas about the direction of the ministry.
- Regular training opportunities for those interested in developing their ministry skills.
- Members teaching Bible class.
- Members engaged in comfort ministry to the homebound and hospitalized.
- Members engaged in spiritual nurture to the lost and straying.
- Annual retreats or meetings held to review the value, purpose, and direction of each ministry.
- Annual detailed plans being documented and goals being set.
- Leaders stepping forward asking how they can be of service.
- Technology, facilities, and infrastructure review that facilitate our ministry -- providing an inviting place to worship with modern capabilities, supporting the needs of our entire community.
